Nana packed up and left in the morning after we loaded up our vehicles. Yvonne's truck held all the camping gear, including a kayak and 2 paddle boards, two tents, some sleeping bags, and the food we'd finished getting for the camping trip. Yup, we were going BACKWOODS CAMPING in the GRAND TETONS! I was so excited!!!
And, I also thought it was AWESOME that my sister, who was nine-months-pregnant was taking us, that we had, between us, SEVEN DAUGHTERS.

Violet swapped places with a couple of my girls, and I got to have these three girls on the drive over.
Our only hiccup was a huge rock chip in my windshield I knew would need to be repaired. It didn't take too much extra time, and we were quickly on our way to the start of our first destination. |
Swimsuits and paddle boards. The girls were eager to get into the water. |
Mem was still getting to know me, and she was really tied (no nap!) |
Megan and Sage swimming |
Zoë on the paddle board and Nica trying to get used to the cold water. |
What a view! |
Yes, that is Yvonne on the paddle board. She jumped off |
This is her after she got back on the paddle board. It was hilarious watching her flop back onto the board. I wasn't sure if she could manage it with that beautiful belly, but she did! |
Men ready for her turn on the paddle board |
Megan and Sage in the background, Miranda emerging from the water (for just a moment) |
Unreal |
I took Mem out on the paddle board |
Tired little baby |
Snack time! Veronica and Violet eat a snack and warm up in the sun. |
After our swim, we packed up, changed into our hiking clothes, loaded everyone up and headed for our camp |
Yvonne took Mem in the kayak, and Zoë paddled the boards |
Our trail- the girls hiked this, carrying all our gear (what didn't go in the kayak) |
About half way there |
Hmmm, can't kayak through that. So we had to portage. Which mean unloading the kayak, carrying the BEAST 1/4 mile uphill to the next part, carrying all the gear, repacking the kayak, and then continuing on our way. We were very grateful we had a kind man help carry the kayak for us! |
Nica spotted this dragon fly. She wants to put this picture on her wall at home. |
We set up camp. Although we reserved two spots, the second was on the opposite side of the lake, and we just didn't think it would be a good idea to split us up like that. Not to mention all the extra work, and paddling back and forth. So, we put up two tents, locked our food in the bear box away from camp, and settled in for a campfire evening. The girls swam a little, and then we settled in for the night.
