Blue & Gold

I had a REAL date on Saturday. OK, not exactly like what I did in college because we ate in the van on the way from dropping the girls off at a friend's house to park for the game. Oh, and as soon as we got home, instead of doing anything else, I jumped into the van and raced to pick them up. But there were two whole hours where I had time to go on a DATE with my husband!

Even better, it was a FOOTBALL game!

Every spring, the Notre Dame Football team puts on a practice game where they play against their own offense/defense. It was fun to watch them play. It was even better that we were able to cheer for the team that had both of the players who attend our church.

The weather was miserable. Thankfully, I had on 3 shirts, a hooded jacket and my parka, and some wool socks. Travis also brought me blanket, just in case. The second half of the game they played without stopping the clock, with only 12-minute quarters (so the entire second half was only 30 minutes long). That was due to the inclement weather: fifties with drizzle. I still loved the game, loved cuddling next to Travis, loved not having children pawing, crawling, climbing, whining all over me. I loved that I could enjoy my best friend's company in a social setting.

We walked home (we live only a mile from campus), and that was also enjoyable.

Sorry, I didn't take the camera, so I don't have any pictures. Travis laughed and said, "Thank you! It's good to know you don't have to take your camera everywhere!" My real reason is that my camera would NOT have taken good pictures anyway.

I love my kids. I even enjoy them. But, it is really nice to have a DATE with my husband every once in a while.

Thanks again, dear friend, for watching my girls so I could go out!

Oh, and I LOVE football! I hope I'll be able to attend a real game this fall!

Sniff, Sniff, Notre Dame! Sniff, Sniff Football at Notre Dame!!!! Hooray for Temps that don't drop below 60! ;) Just kidding. That's fun that you got to go! And two from our ward this year!?!? That is awesome! So does that mean Manti is not going on a mission?

To comment on the ipod, I will admit sometimes when I Jog--not walk--Jog with my jogging stroller and the girls I will listen to music, but that is only because if I hear myself breathing I stop. But if we're just going for a brisk walk, I love to hear them chatter as well. Sad what that mom is missing out on huh!?
