Fingerprints

I know you're not supposed to believe what you see on TV. Especially in commercials. But when you have so many people smile with nostalgia as they talk about finding little fingerprints on their windows, and you see the perfectly polished Mom with her bottle of window cleaner and her rag wipe away the little prints on her otherwise perfectly clean window, smiling in that same nostalgic but "oh, those little darling terrors" way, I sometimes think there's something wrong with me.

Then I look around again at the fingerprints at my house.

Now, I have 4 little girls. Who are really good little girls. Who aren't very messy, at least I don't think any more messy than the average kids their ages. And, I do try to keep up with housework.

And yes, I do find ONE little fingerprint hand smashed against a clean window cute, and nostalgia-inducing. But what I actually see are windows covered in finger smears, lip- and nose-smears. I wash the walls up my stairway (it feels like weekly, but I'm sure it's more like monthly, or bimonthly, or maybe annually, or perhaps biannually?), but what I actually see are had smudges, sticky finger marks, pencil scratches. There are the splashes, the drips, the marks from who knows what, that I find in the strangest places. UGH!

So, no, fingerprints are not my favorite or most nostalgic triggers at the moment... How DO you keep after so many little marks???

I have my girls clean them. It makes them aware of the messes they are making.
