Cross Country Trip Day 17 (Saturday): Salt Lake City

In the morning the Giauque's and Bailey's headed back to SLC to enjoy "This is the Place" Heritage Park. We joined Greg's parents and our Nana there, and had fun in the park together.

Nana scooped up everything before I could stop her and carried it off

There is this great area where you can pan for (fools) gold. The kids had fun getting into the water and looking for the shiny pieces of rock. Some of us adults did, too.

What did Ella catch?

A dragonfly!

Each kid had the chance to make themselves a "Black Diamond" ring- it is a nail that is bent into a ring shape.

They also got to hammer designs into leather.

Panning for Gold:

We said g'bye to the Giauques and headed down to 7-11 to get free Slurpee in honor of 7/11  (and Dad/Travis' birthday).

We then drove over to Grandma Great's house and spent some time visiting with her.

Grandma Caroline Welling looking at something one of the girls was showing her.

After saying g'bye to Grandma Great, we drove down across the valley to Nanaunt's house and ate dinner with the Dehnel's. Yummy ribs and potatoes- we all had seconds. Laura came over a little later and we got to visit for a while.
