When the In-Laws are In Town in IN

It seems that whenever my Bailey family relatives come to town, we have horrible weather. Of course, we get rain here, and there are some C-c-c-c-old days, but usually we have beautiful sunshine at least a few days a week. However, this year it has been really cool; even this summer we only had a few days about 90, which is abnormal.

I wish we'd had better weather this week during their visit, but as I was saying to my mother-in-law, it's probably better we did have some cloudy yucky cold days- just so I didn't run them (and myself!) into the ground. As it was, here's a list of the things we did this week:

*Chicago Field Museum, followed by dinner on the way home at Burger King

*Veronica's Blessing (including girls' and family pictures)

*Amish Acres in Napanee, IN...

... and naps! (for some)

*Fernwood Gardens near Niles, MI (it had a really cool train exhibit)

*Stover's Farm (we got yummy apples)...
...and a Children's Museum in St. Joseph, MI (Miranda wanted to go to the beach- we had a hard time convincing her it was waaaay tooo COLD!)

*A catch-up day at home, reading stories with Grandma and Grandpa

*An all-day trip starting with Breakfast at Das Dutchman Essenhaus, shopping at a bulk-food store, exploring an old-fashioned waterwheel mill, feeding goats, ...

... and eating a picnic lunch (or Dad's sweatshirt) and looking at shops in Elkhart's Farmer's Market, ...

... and a walk up to Notre Dame for their Pep Rally on the Green.

WHEW! I hope I didn't exhaust Mom and Dad too much. They were a huge help, and we had such a great time together. My favorite moments were watching them teach, talk with, and play with and read to my girls. These memories are so special for me, and I'm very grateful they were able to spend so much time with us!!!

It would be so awesome to live closer to family... which makes these times even more precious because I value every minute so much.

I think Grandpa has a napping picture with every single child. We need to make a collage.
