Summer Trip: July 22, Day 3

If you were born before the 80's, you probably know the famous five notes from "Alien Encounters of the Third Kind" movie. Grandpa Wing took us to see the famouse "Devil's Tower" upon which the end of that movie was filmed. Miranda was much more taken with the Indian Princess that was caught on top and the bear was trying to claw his way up to capture.

We walked the 1.25 mile trail around the base. Zoë was a trouper. Veronica loved riding on Grandpa's shoulders, and Megan was slow. Miranda would switch between being "TOO TIRED" and excited about the Indian Princess stuck on top.

A short rest before continuing our hike around the base. Grandpa and Zo&eulm; led the way.

I loved the perspective in this shot.
'Nica's feet look HUGE.

Another break. Miranda is looking through binoculars (child-sized!) for the Princess on top of the rock.
A rather impressive natural phenomenon, it was fun to hike around this myth-fact place.

Since Grandpa Wing and Grandma Jan had a meeting in Spearfish, WY, I decided to take the girls swimming at their outdoor waterpark. Slides, splashpad, kid pool, lazy river... we had a fun few hours playing in the hot sun and cool water.

Megan wringing the drips out of her hair.
She was SWIMMING on her own, and I was so proud of her!

Since the lifeguards had to have a break, they had all swimmers get out of the pools. The only thing open was the "splashpad" that had slides, buckets, etc. Zoë and Miranda had as much fun on this playground as they did in the water.

Bottom of the slide! Miranda's ready to get up and run to the next thing...

a Bigger slide!
