Let's Go Jeeping!

Our dear friends gave Zoë a motor wheels jeep when we moved from Texas. It was so amazingly sweet of them! Zoë has taken care of this jeep, helped me paint it, and has been so kind to drive friends around in it. She's also willing to let others drive it around.

Our friend, Fin, was over on Monday and it was gorgeous outside, so we headed outdoors to see if I could get Megan to ride without training wheels (Ha!) and let the kiddos try their hand at driving the jeep.

Zoë rode her bike and

Veronica hung out on a blanket with some toys (you'll hear her crying in the background on one of the videos below).

Megan hung a little with Veronica, but had fun taking pictures around the yard with my camera. Miranda took a few shots, too! They took these pictures of each other:

Watching Miranda and Fin drive the jeep was entertainment in and of itself!

Miranda drove first, giving Fin an idea of how things worked. Or rather, thinking she was.

Fin was the master of the forward/reverse lever, and half the time it was his foot on the "gas pedal"!

Notice the phone? Miranda is learning young how to multitask: talking on the phone and driving. Hopefully she'll get better at steering the vehicle!

(I'm thinking we might need to get our driving-age daughter bluetooth cell phones).

Then, Fin took a turn driving the jeep. Oh, was he in heaven! Miranda still gave him some "assistance" with steering...and pressing on the pedal...
and hanging up the phone...
and steering again.
Maybe Miranda is a bit of a back(passenger)-seat driver. Definitely a bit of a control freak and bossy. I wonder where she gets that from...

Of course, the things that made Fin laugh the most were the crashes!

Crashing into trees or...

into bushes and jerking the car (gas pedal not completely depressed).
(Notice Miranda's multitasking abilities and the need for more attention to steering)

They also liked driving in circles: forward or reverse! Maybe that's why Miranda tried to help steer- she was getting a little motion sickness :)

*No, I did not fix my daughters' hair this day. I swear, it's so time consuming! I'm not kidding. Chasing them with threatening hair brushes and boxes of rubber bands and bows just to get their hair out of their eyes so they can see is disheartening most mornings (four girls, even five minutes a girl is 20 min!). So, if you see my girls with their hair fixed, figure that I was feeling generous that morning, and felt like "squandering" at least half an hour on hair. At a minimum, I perform this daunting task on Sundays so they look somewhat cared for. And, I try to pull it back a few other days during the week as well. Maybe every other day? Monday mornings I am just not in the mood to fight them. Any suggestions for you moms with multiple girls? Boys don't count.

Oh no, not another driver you have to watch out for because they are talking on their cell phone!!! I love the way Miranda keeps putting the "windshield" back up. Each of the movies ended just as they were heading for the cars in the street....

Nadine, hair is what I dread about having girls. Seriously! I have friends in my ward that just love to do hair. Please! I have something more important to do with my time. We are finally getting to the point that Ella really does need her hair combed every day. And that is what I do. I comb the tangles out and then let it go. It is nice that her hair is so curly and her bangs so sparse. It works out great. I love long hair on girls, but I think you have the right system--do it when you have to.

Whoa! Look out for the street! I am still giggling about these! Thanks for posting them. I loved it when they went "through" the bushes and we just laughing! So cute!

Yeah, um, the camera stopped because I dashed after them to keep them from going into the street.

They had so much fun driving each other crazy!

My favorite is of Fin giggling after they drove through the bushes. And, all of Miranda's little mannerisms: phone, pulling up the windshield, pressing on the gas pedal while Fin was in the driver seat, steering while he was "driving".

Yeah, I dread fixing hair in the morning. Although, having 4 girls vying over mirror space in the bathroom to fix their own hair is not all that appealing either...

Cute jeep! My boys would love something like that!

There were three of us girls growing up, all with long hair. My mom would comb and pull our hair back into ponytails as we were eating breakfast. Sometimes during the summer she'd do some tight french braids and leave them in for a week at a time!
