My Twin asked me today, "What do your kids do while you're crafting?"
I've been very busy making things for Christmas- some wood projects that I can't talk about until after presents have been opened (but I'm so excited about them, and I really hope my loved-ones like them as much as I do- I'd love to have had them gifted to me, so if you don't like them, please, please, send them back). I've also been working on the girls' Christmas dresses. I just want to know why I've picked some horrendous patterns to work with these last 2 projects. I also worked on neighbor gifts this week. I baked 5 loaves of home-made fresh stone-ground wheat bread on Monday. And, there's the other little projects (like updating my calendar, and the regular, un-fun projects of house work). Yup, I've been hip deep in my crafts and projects.
So, what do my daughters do while I'm occupied and concentrating to the point that it takes me at least ten minutes to register they are doing something that I need to follow up on?
Well, here's some photographic documentation:No, that's not lipstick. It is a stamp. A nice bright purple stamp that her big sister let fall to the floor and I was distracted to not realize the one-year-old decided it was the perfect chew toy. I guess Miranda doesn't have my aversion to Red#40.
Zoë dug out her puppy sleeping bag while we were playing together (we were headed out on a Safari and found lions and giraffes in the jungle. She informed me that the jeep ride was bumpy because we were driving over crocodiles). I found her being the puppy a little later.
Megan wanted to be a puppy, too.
Yes, sometimes while I am busy crafting, the girls will also get busy crafting. Their favorite is to draw pictures with markers, but will do with crayons in a pinch. Zoë is starting to write more on her pictures, too.
Megan particularly enjoys drawing and then cutting; cutting the paper into the tiniest little pieces of scraps that abscond in little corners. My favorite of her ink drawings was the Giraffe Princess. I would include a picture of that here, but I am afraid the CD I burned that on is missing (and I'm praying it will turn up!!!)
Miranda loves putting things in and taking things out. Doesn't seem to matter the content or the container; I have even found the baby Jesus from the nativity inside one of our boots.
Of course, I did not include pictures of their bedrooms or the toy room after one of my involved afternoons. It cannot do justice to the seeming destruction they are able to accomplish in a matter of what seems like seconds.
Gratefully, they are really good kids, and I am able to (usually) accomplish quite a bit and complete many projects. Still, it's a good thing I have time after they are in bed- it lets me get some of the messier stuff done without any "help".

What do they do?

Love it. Especially the lipstick and empty wipe box! Every child needs their "crafting" time - although their craft definition may differ from ours. I evaluate often, "Is it worth the mess they are making?" (for my project time)and most often it is. I've seen them come up with the most creative things when I have not been involved and then I am so glad I "let them be".
This has been me this week, too. I even moved my sewing stuff out to the dining room so I can see what they're up to while I'm sewing.
LOL! I'm so glad my kids aren't the only one who can create a fair amount of mischief when we're busy!!
I know if I get involved in a project then whatever the kids do.. will be pretty bad... But it's worth it if I can just get my stuff done!
Love the pictures!
Let them draw on church programs! I still owe it to my parents and Travis for letting me do that...and I've got a career out of it.
