(Not) Camera Shy

I sometimes wonder why I don't have many pictures of Zoë any more. I think it's partly because she's had so many taken of her in her younger years that she's just plain sick of it. I also think another aspect is that she is at school most of the day, and when she comes home I'm trying to help her with homework, play mediator between her and her sisters, and getting dinner fixed, served, eaten, cleaned up, and get the girls to bed. I don't usually feel like pulling out the camera in the midst of all that.

Still I managed to snap these two. You still can't see how long (or rather short) her hair is. We are both lovin' how little time it takes to fix now. Whew! Even better is how happy she is; I love her smile and sunny personality. I love seeing her get excited about things (music, her new Webkinz Comfort, her doll Katie, making cupcakes with her mom, playing dress up with her sister, earning extra money by helping me with little chores).

While I was taking pictures of Zoë, I started laughing because Miranda came over to get her picture taken, too! She didn't want to miss out on the action. So much like the youngest/third child. She fits all the "me, too!" roles, I just laugh every time. My little must-be-included-even-in-the-conversation-despite-not-being-able-to-speak-adult (because she knows what she's saying, and she has to be included in the conversation, too!).

I didn't catch a picture of Megan on this afternoon. I think she was more interested in finishing her project than getting her picture taken. One such project that has kept her busy on multiple occasions: an old fashioned clothespin that she dressed up as a princess in Christmas wrapping paper using glue and tape- complete with cape. Yesterday she found her again, dressed her in Polly Pocket doll dresses, and then decided that she needed to paint her. Out came the watercolors, and Megan now has a beautiful African (black) princess doll that wears fancy dresses. It kept her entertained for hours.

I'm a little confused....did you cut Zoe's hair?

I didn't actually cut her hair myself, but I had a friend cut it. She chopped off about 11 inches. Zoë is VERY happy about having shorter (and, therefore, easier to fix) hair. She was disappointed that not everybody at school noticed/mentioned it when she went back the next day.
