My wonderful friend, Tara, made this awesome cake with another friend's (Cheryl) help:
Not only does this fondant and frosting cake look spectacular, but it was also VERY tasty (especially the mini chocolate chips in the ladybug head. Yum!)
This is my friend's third attempt with fondant, but her first after we made her daughter's baptism cake together. She used black cherry koolaid and red food coloring to get the red fondant, and cocoa powder with black food coloring for the black. The crazy thing? She did this with my help without my knowing she was doing it! She said her sister was making a red and black race car for her son's birthday. I said her sister had picked the two hardest colors to work with- didn't she want a white race car? and then proceeded to answer her questions and give her tips. The whole time I didn't have a clue!
Cheryl helped out with the leaf (that's a LOT of star-tip piping!!!). And they surprised me with it at lunch on my birthday.
Thank you SO MUCH for this awesome cake, dear friends!
