I'm glad my girls understand modesty. I'm not so glad when they point it out.
Megan has pointed this out quite frequently. Once, to my mortification, while we were waiting in a checkout line. The lady turned to me and said, "WHAT did she say?"
That certainly put me in a quandary. Do I tell the truth? Do I lie? What sort of example does either answer give? I opted for the (embarrasing) truth. It still wasn't an easy decision. The immodest lady laughed it off nervously, and then said, "Ahh honey, you'll be dressing like this soon enough." And, of course, I immediately said a prayer in my heart, "Please, God! I hope not ever!" The lady behind me gave me a wide-eyed shocked look at asked, "How old is she?" Easier answer: two-and-a-half. She was even more shocked.
With my exercising in my living room, I do not attempt to attain as modest attire as I would at a gym. I am not in public, my curtains are closed and my living room is not ventillated or air conditioned as well as most exercise facilities are. I do not feel bad about wearing a sports bra and sweats if it's just me and the girls (and sometimes Travis) at home. So, be warned! If you come knocking at the wrong time, you might have to wait a few minutes for me to become publicly presentable!
Zoë and Megan both had many exclamations when I'm garbed for my workouts, "Mom! You're not modest!"
I've had to explain (again and again) that I'm at home, and that I'm wearing clothing appropriate for the activity. You don't wear a T-shirt and jeans to go swimming... but is a swim suit immodest? Only if you're wearing it somewhere other than swimming. Zoë quickly learned that she could dress "less modestly" if she exercised with me (the only time she gets to wear sleeveless shirts). Megan is still trying to grasp that Mom is wearing something immodest. Which makes me feel pretty good that she holds me up to a high standard.
Now, if I can just get them to not point it out LOUD to people...

Aww...so cute! It's so great that they know that.
That is so funny about Megan still trying to grasp the concept of her mother's immodesty! I'm laughing even more at your choice to repeat what was said in the grocery line to the immodest lady. Priceless!!!!!!!
