Midwest Winter

It's cold outside. It was even colder this (January 16th) morning: -19 F. Yeah. That's COLD. And, not just for me! Travis couldn't even finish shoveling the sidewalks cuz his fingers got numb this morning.

There is at least 2 feet of snow in the unshoveled areas, and two to three times that in at the corners where we piled up the snow scooped from the sidewalk.

I don't know if we've reached Orem heights (see picture of Grandma and Grandpa Bailey's driveway below), but we are pretty close. I think we get the prize for coldest temps, tho'. With the windchill today, the temps were in the -30. Zoë's school was canceled, and we had to stay inside all day- except for taking Travis to/from work.

The cool thing? We saw an ice-rainbow this morning. I don't think I've ever seen that before, and it was quite spectacular! I also saw somebody throw some HOT water in the air and it immediately turned to snow/ice before it hit the ground! That was pretty cool, too.

Well, we're hoping we get a warming trend and can climb out of single digits. Maybe then we can play some in the snow. Hope you're staying warm! We're sure trying.

brrr...brrrr...brrrr! We have been thawing out during the day, but then the puddles freeze during the night and it still feels like driving a buckboard down our street...I haven't ever seen an ice rainbow. That must be something!
Keep warm. Love all of you!

And I can see my lawn again.

I hate snow. And cold.
