Spring is (finally!) on its way...

Not that I would be surprised if we had another snowstorm, but at least the ground isn't as frozen, and the 65° weather has been Heavenly! We have been outside a ton. The girls even wanted to eat dinner on the back porch using our new deck chairs, even though we didn't have a table! Well, tonight we girls are eating dinner outside as a family for the first time this year. And it is awesome!

Other than assembling the table and putting up the umbrella (which I will take down tonight), I also spent most of the afternoon digging holes for our new trees. Here's hoping they grow straight and tall and give us lovely shade, and beautiful leaves in autumn (yeah, I know that also means I will have to rake in the fall).

Miranda is a bit taller than the Redbud we planted back by the firepit.

I didn't have enough mulch, but at least it is planted! This shows how the tree is at the edge of the ditch on the back side. The firepit is further to the right and a little behind (further west and south).

Megan is also just a little taller than this Red Maple we planted in the corner of the backyard. We wanted to see bright red leaves in the fall as we look out the livingroom windows. Hopefully the deer will leave these little trees alone!

Nica is also just a little taller than this Sugar Maple that we planted in the front yard (to eventually give our bedroom windows some privacy from across the street, in about 25 years!). This soil was the most obnoxious! Heavy, wet clay with rocks. Ugh!

We enjoyed this break in the weather and are taking as much advantage of it as we can because next week it'll be back in the 30s and we will be inside (painting a bathroom, assembling book shelves, replacing the kitchen sink, spring cleaning, etc). Although I think we will have to find some adventures as the girls are on spring break. So, we will be playing, too!

Welcome, Spring!
