We were blessed with an abundance of warm weather the first three days of break. That is when all five of us girls went shopping (for paint, a new table for the deck, yeast, fabric for something Zoë wants to sew for her new cousins, and some swimsuits). We then spent the afternoon outdoors (see previous post). Sunday we also spent time outside, eating dinner and going for a daily walk. Travis got home from Massachusetts where he was at a conference just as we were finishing dinner, so he was able to stretch his legs with us after his loooong drive.
Monday, after hearing the girls start in on complaining about destroying each other's creations on Minecraft, I told them all to load up cuz we were going to a park. I threw crackers, cheese slices and pepperoni in our picnic backpack with a bag of apples and peppers, found our swim socks, filled up water bottles and headed out the door.
We went to Stony Brook State Park, and I have found a new favorite place! I just wish it wasn't 45 min from our house. But, if they open the swimming hole this summer, it won't be much different from the drive I used to make to St. Joseph, MI... Just more hiking trails and a better playground. And no sand or warm water.
We met up with friends from church. I think at one point we had a group of thirty people!
The short hike was fun, and the girls didn't even complain too much! It gives me hope.
We all left as a group to go get ice cream in Dansville, just 10 min from the park. But there were already 12 people on line in front of our crowd of thirty. So the girls asked if we could just go to Twister's in Livonia. You bet!
It would've been the perfect end to the day, but, sadly, Megan got overheated and car sick on the drive home and didn't keep lunch down. She had to wait to eat her ice cream. We ended the fun day by watching TV and starting our week-long celebration of Christ's life in preparation for Easter Sunday.
I will post pictures later...
