Best Friends

We met a new family on Friday at a ward party. They came to church on Sunday.

Zoë went up to her new friend after Sacrament meeting, laced their arms and fingers together and started walking with her to class. She turned to her new friend and said, "Now, what's your name?"

**************

These new friends just moved to South Bend from Provo, UT. And when I mean "just", they'd pulled their van in on Friday and ward members (including Travis) helped to unload it. Because we had a ward picnic that night, they were invited to attend and they decided to make the attempt to come on over (I don't know if I would've, considering I knew I'd have to get all those kids into some form of a sleeping place later).

But, they made it to the potluck! and Zoë and Megan met little girls their own age. There was also a little boy who is a few months younger than Miranda, so she wasn't much interested in him, nor him in her. The girls played on the splash pad, climbed the monkey bars, and spun on the merry-go-round, all of them having the greatest time of their lives. Of course, names were mentioned (maybe?).

They came to church on Sunday and my older girls noticed them. I was picking up books, scriptures, pencils, papers, crutches, purse, bags, and baby after Sacrament meeting and when I turned around to look for my girls I saw that they had raced back to find their new friends, and they were each holding their new friends' hand, showing them where they should go for class!

I was so proud of them! Coming to a new place is scary, and not having any friends there even scarier. I was so glad that my girls made these new-comers welcome!
