Unexpected Trip

Travis is on a plane to Houston right now.

It's sad, really. He's going because his former PI just lost his 17-year-old autistic son to an accidental drowning in the bathtub. They believe he had a seizure.

We scurried to find last-minute deals and get things ready for him to leave Wednesday, after finding out this sad news on Tuesday morning.

The good news is that Travis will get to visit some of our good friends in Texas! The Fears and the Lewis families have said he's welcome to stay overnight with them. I'm glad Travis took his computer so he can share some pictures of his girls. We also contacted the Wilsfords, and hopefully Travis will have a little time to see them. Still, he's only going to be there less than 36 hours- long enough to support his former PI at the funeral, say high to a few (and not enough!) friends, and then head home to take care of his baby fish.

Meanwhile, I'm home with sick babies, trying not to grumble about how much life is so unfair because I'm the one who loves to travel, wants to travel, but Travis is the one who has flown to Spain, Florida, Houston, and will soon be heading to Wisconsin. Granted, these are not vacation but work trips. But still! he's traveling, and I'm... well, I'm trying not to grumble.

So, in honor of Travis heading to Houston and the location of Two Rows, the restaurant that made one of his favorite appetizers, South-Western Egg Rolls, I'm posting my "famous recipe".

I'm sorry you aren't getting to travel. There are days that I grumble, too. Greg is traveling to Minneapolis right now. I was grumbling that he was sitting in his hotel room reading his dad's personal history and watching teh Suns game while I had just put Andrew and Ella to bed and then was trying to get the kitchen clean. I hate cleaning teh kitchen. Anyway, then I am reminded of teh Eliza R. Snow quote from Sister Beck's most recent conference talk. Have I mentioned how much I love Sister Beck? She wants to empower women--not to be men, but to be women of God. I LOVE IT! Anyway, I digress. The quote: "Women should be women and not babies that need petting and correction all the time." I love it! It is a swift kick in my pants to just suck it up and be grateful I am a wife and a mother.

I would love to have you travel our way. I keep watching the deals.

OH, and I am so sorry about the death. That is so sad. I hope they are feeling comfort. Those Egg Rolls look divine! Can't wait to try them out!

It was great to see Travis and I was thankful that there were no delays on my return trip from New York City. I hate leaving Kimberly on business trips when the boys are ill. Benjamin and Aaron are now both big fans of "Uncle Bailey." On Friday morning when Benjamin woke up he asked where is "THE Uncle?" No longer just Unlce, Travis is now "THE Uncle!"

We did enjoy seeing Travis. The boys had so much fun. It was actually convenient for me that he arrived as I was about to teach piano lessons. Entertained all of the boys while I was busy. Looks like Brandon already filled you in on Benjamin's opinion of Travis. Yet another fan of Uncle Bailey.
I'm sad you and the girls didn't get to come. I can't believe how much they are growing up. Love the blog though. I ought to comment more, but it's all I can do to keep up with mine most days. I even had a page of your blog up for a week to comment on how grown up Zoe was looking and never did. Anyway, we'd love to see all of you again. Sorry that you were stuck home with sick kids. Hope they get well soon.
