Happy Birthday, Friend

Birthday parties for kids are so fun! and very unpredictable.

Megan was invited to a nursery-friend's birthday last week. The 2- and 3-year-old children mostly played with the birthday girl's toys, and made a mess of cake and ice cream, and tried to help her open her presents.

I almost dropped the camera from laughing so hard when we tried to get her to blow out her candles...



I was so proud of Megan. Both she and Zoë saw these birthday presents (we got another one for a birthday the following day) and really wanted to have one of their own. I didn't break down (yet) and get it for them. Still, Megan was just as excited to give her friend this gift, and to help her open it!

I wonder if that ability to share and enjoy other's excitement will last... although she's always been good about sharing. She's also very good about staking out her territory ("Dat mine!")
