Travis received offers from State University of New York at Geneseo and Northern Michigan University!! Sadly, the job at University of Dayton, was not offered to him.
After much prayer, fasting, and a trip to the temple, and with great anxiety and trepidation (butterflies in his stomach), considering expense, cost of living, retirement packages, opportunities for the girls and myself (in case I want to work again as a Physician Assistant), travel expenses (ease of visiting family), Geneseo will have at least one new family moving to town come August. The job is predominately a teaching position, but Travis will be able to do a little bit of research. This will be awesome as he'll get to do exactly what he wants to: teach and do research.
We will look to buy, as there are no rentals available for families. We don't know if we'll live closer to Geneseo, or to Rochester, which is only 30 miles away. Or, if we'll go even more rural and live over by one of the lakes in the Finger Lakes District. There is a chapel in Geneseo and it pulls people from all over the county, but is in a different stake from Rochester. And, our temple district is Palmyra! That's something I'm super excited about. 2 hours from Niagara Falls and 5 hours from New York City are also really cool.
If you know anything about buying a home, moving, or about Rochester or Geneseo, New York, I would LOVE to get any advice!
Oh, and when the were interviewing Travis, they said, "We want to hire you to retire here." So, this job is likely a permanent move. As permanent as the Lord wants it to be, I suppose! Which really could be until Travis retires. There's both fear and comfort in that. It is a tenure-track position, so he'll work hard to get tenure in about 5-6 years. Then, he'll just work hard. :)
We're excited. We're nervous. We're happy and a little sad.
I'm really glad that we have a name and a place to go!

YAY! HUGE CONGRATS!!!
I am a bit concerned for you - when I looked for the closest Costco, all ten locations were in Canada. The closest ones in NY are down by NYC. Sigh. I guess you've done it this long, eh? :)
And after ten minutes of googling, I found you a place to live. I'll email you. :)
Wow! That is wonderful! Congrats, you will blossom anywhere you are planted.
Congratulations! I love that area! You are so close to so much. It as such a small town feel. And I understand NY has really good PA laws.
YAY!!!!!! Congratulations you guys. Nadine, wherever you move you will instantly make a bajillion friends. This is great news!
I'm a little behind in my blog reading, but congrats, friend!!!
How exciting to be looking forward to a new adventure. We have been here in our TX house for 10 years and it's starting to feel a little stale. :o) I'm semi-jealous! And you will get to see so many church history sites! Yay! I'm only sad that it's not closer to Texas. Maybe someday we'll get to meet up again.
(((hugs))) and hope that your move preparations go along swimmingly!
