Easter, March 31, 2013

I loved Zoë's Easter blessing on the dinner, and how she remembered, despite all the distractions of candy, egg hunts, Easter baskets of goodies, and new dresses, that the most important part of Easter is that Jesus Christ gave us the gift of the Atonement and the gift of Resurrection. These are the true meaning and purpose of celebrating Easter. The rest are just the fun trappings.

I "recycled" old Easter dresses from when Zoë and Megan were little... Easter 2008! Those dresses now fit Miranda and Veronica.

I then dug into my filing cabinet (yes, that's what I keep half of my fabric in!) and pulled out 1.5 yards of left over material. I sat down on the floor in the living room to cut them out at 7:30. I put the last stitch into the waistband of the second, lined skirt at 10:30 pm. Not bad for having to Frankenstein and re-size a pattern! (The pattern I had only went to size 6, but Zoë is a 9 and Megan is a 10).

I had the shirts tucked away from when I bought them matching ones last summer. Whew! If I find some time, I might sew some new ones, mostly just to use up some fabric so I don't have to pack and move it!

These are a few of my favorite shots from Easter Sunday 2013 ...

The Girls!

Our Girls

Our Goofy Girls

The girls received candy in eggs at church on Sunday.

They loved playing with them on the way home.

Zoë looking up high for the hard-to-reach eggs.

I think Nica  helped Zoë find a few of those eggs closer to the ground.

Megan spotted the last egg- hiding high up behind the rain gutter. Guess who put it there? Guess who got it down!?

We let Nica get a head start. She loved it!

Adding to her basket...
Miranda ran everywhere, too. She was the first to gather a dozen eggs, and a few extras, too.

I can see almost 4 eggs in this picture. Well, not all of them were eggs exactly. Maybe that's why Megan ran right by without spotting them...

Megan seemed the most animated, and loved hunting for the hard ones.

I had to laugh that it was Nica who helped her sisters find some of the eggs (before she'd finished gathering her own!)

Hunting together; Zoë and Nica were missing a few eggs yet.

Dinner was potato salad (with eggs from our crafty dying job of the day before), and a slowcooker pork roast and twice-baked potatoes, and our standard fill-in of spinach salad. Not my usual fare, but it was still yummy. Dessert (which was eaten before dinner) consisted of Easter Candy.

Happy Easter!
Our neighbor's daughters came over and took this family shot.
There were only two shots, but in both of them, I didn't know Veronica was pulling such a face!
