An explanation:
If you see the date in italics, that is the time that I wrote the journal entry. Since I crammed so much in to such little time, I spent all my "free time" writing to catch up with events. I have taken the liberty to add to my journal entries as well (so not all that is written here is exactly what is written in my little notebook journal). I have tried to intersperse photos with narration. But, I've also tried to add captions to the photos so you don't have to read everything. I hope you get a taste of all the fun I had... it was truly an amazing "Anniversary" trip, and one I will cherish. 14:26 09-Jul-12
We made it to the gate! Now we wait for the first flight (SBN to Detroit). We had some issues with boarding passes (no pass for me from Detroit to Frankfurt!) checking baggage (machine was jamming) and the passports not scanning. Whew! Both of us are glad we came early!
I'll miss my girls. I hope they won't miss us too much and that they'll have LOTS of fun with Nana. I'm so glad she'll get some help next week when Nanaunt (Carole) arrives.

Travis got VERY arisick on that first flight- so much so that we both were afraid he was going to pass out. Thankfully, he didn't and over the next 2 hours felt better.
He took the window seat, I got an aisle. He "dozed" while I watched "Hunger Games" and then we both tried to sleep for the next 4 hours. I am sure we'll be tired this afternoon- hopefully we'll stay awake at the temple!
Yes, I miss my girls and I"m wondering how they are- hopefully sleeping!
We land in 45 min! :)

We dropped off most of our bags in a locker at Frankfurt Hbf and then walked to the Dom (St. Bartholomeus) and then down to the Römerberg.

| This is the Römerberg, or the center plaza of Frankfurt. The buildings look just like this! But the plaza was full of a stage that was being disassembled. |

We walked almost directly to the temple, even tho' we couldn't see it from the train station. Travis didn't recognize much. Entering the visitor's center, we found a room to change our clothes in and walked underground to the temple (under the courtyard we are pictured in below). We just barely made the session, and it was in French! I wore headphones and switched between the different languages: German, French, Italian, Spanish. It was really neat to hear everybody speaking in foreign languages, but all saying th same thing.
After we finished our work in the temple, we went to the front entrance where we took some pictures. Travis changed clothes (again!) and now we are headed to Eberstadt to see Rahel Megner. While at the train station waiting to start our journey to Frankfurt (to grab our bags) and then on to Eberstadt-Darmstadt, we called and talked to the girls and Nana. I hope we'll will be able to skype with them soon.

We made our train connections and were met at the Tram station by Tobias Megner, Rahel's (Neideck) husband. He speaks English very well, partly because he served a mission in Scotland. We had a great afternoon talking. Rahel and Maja (mai-ya) came home around 7pm and said a brief 'hallo' before Maja went to bed. We then ate a light German dinner of bread, meat (salami, fish) and cheese. YUM! We were both very tired at this point, so after a shower, we went to bed.
