One of those moments...

As I stand there, my shoulder propping the freezer door open as the other is holding a container of ice cream, I look down at the mess on the floor. MY MESS.

Eight squashed and soggy cupcake papers with cupcake batter splatted all over the floor.I was attempting to make use of new knowledge that I discovered on Pinterest* today- that you can freeze "extra" cake batter and bake cupcakes later (I was going to freeze the batter in the papers and then put them in freezer bags). My great design was now a splattered gooey mess all over the kitchen floor and a box of frozen hashbrowns that had fallen and knocked the pan out of my hand.

"Well, at least I didn't do it!" chimes my four-year-old. And then, as she jumps down from the stool where she'd been helping me make the cupcakes and as she scoots around behind me to leave the kitchen she parts with, "Mom, I guess you're going to have to clean up that mess.... I'm getting out of here!"

Do I cry? Do I laugh?

Maybe a little of both.
It's been a long day.

At least it was white cake batte: if I've missed some of those splatters they won't be as noticeable.
Oh, and happy birthday to my nephew, Andrew. But,. I think we'll keep these cupcakes to ourselves (or at least our garbage can will enjoy them).

*If you don't know Pinterest, and you like surfing the web and then get frustrated when you go back to try and find that one site that had that great idea you could really use right now but after an hour of varied google searches you still can't find that particular link... well, you need to sign up for this (free!) online cataloging site. It's AWESOME!
