Back in October I went on a sewing frenzy. I made a number of costumes (two Rapunzel dresses, two wizard costumes (with hats), and a ghoul), some diaper change kits, and together with my friend we sewed these bags below:
The first bags are ones she made for piano books. Unfortunately, the ribbon is just stampped on, and with the oils from hands the ink rubs off. Still, they turned out really cute!
My friend saw some different version of ballet bags that she really wanted to get for her girls, but at $40+ each, it was definitely not economical. So, putting our heads together, we came up with these bags. If I were to do them again, I'd make the bottom under the tutu longer than the top. But, these babies are fully lined in a contrasting fabric, have zipper closures on top and a zipped pouch inside. It was a challenge, and I made some mistakes (that needed to be stitched fixed later), but they turned out really well. The best part was that the girls loved their bags! They also got lots of compliments and comments from the other ballerinas and their parents.
Oh, and we used my Silhouette and heat transfer vinyl to get their names on. I think freezer-paper stenciling would be better, tho' (less likely to come unpeeled- I think the fabric we adhered the names to had some compatibility problems with the vinyl.)
