Nothing like having your own brag spot, right?
Well, I get to brag about how awesome my family and my husband and my friends are!
I got to sleep in this morning (until Miranda came in to inform me that her dad had a hair cut last night- did I do that?).
I heard birdsong and saw blue skies with bright sunshine all day long! Although it wasn't in the 70's it was still nicely warm by the afternoon (middle 50s). Wow.
I got to spend the morning walking around outside, dipping string in wax to make homemade candles, eat maple-flavored cotton candy, see kettle-corn cooked over an open fire, and a number of other great things that were part of the Bendix Woods Sugar Camp that is this weekend. The best part? I got to do this with my husband and four daughters, and everybody was having a good time!
We raced home to share lunch with a good friend of mine, Tara, and her daughters. We hadn't even gotten kids sitting around the table when another friend, Cheryl, shows up with a cookie sheet covered with towels. A cake!?!?
The big reveal was awesome as Tara and Cheryl had worked together and made me my very own Lady Bug on a Leaf cake! Fondant, star-tip butter cream icing, and even pipecleaner antennae. So adorable! and very yummy.
We then scattered a bit; friends off to other Saturday appointments (ballet rehearsals, etc), Megan to a birthday party, Zoë playing Webkinz online with a friend, Travis to work. I got Megan from her party and then she and Zoë played with friends as I visited with a neighbor friend of mine for a while.
Now, the girls are fed dinner (spinach salad and frozen pizza) and are now getting their baths. I got myself dolled up to go on a real date with my husband because another friend is watching our girls tonight so he and I can go out to dinner and watch a movie.
This doesn't include the many well-wishes I've had through various digital media, and I am so grateful to know that I have some awesome family and friends around me! There's nothing like being remembered, unless it's on your birthday.
I feel so happy, and so grateful. I feel loved and full of love for all these people in my life. I think that is the best birthday present today: having people I love tell me they love me.
That and hearing Veronica say "Happee brr-dee."
