No surprise that Veronica fell asleep after a marathon grocery-shopping trip this morning (2-and-a-half-hours, three stores, lots of money, and a trunk full of (mostly) healthy food and with a few toys and sewing notions).
While we were driving home, Miranda requested I turn on 12 Dancing Princesses music (which I recorded off the DVD onto my computer because they don't sell that soundtrack! It's stored in my iPod, much to Miranda's delight and her older sister's groans).
I left the girls in the car while I unloaded a few things before rushing off to pick up Megan from preschool. Veronica was awake when I started putting away the frozen foods. When I came back after a load, she was asleep.
After a few more minutes (and trips carrying in food through snow, UGH!), I came back to the van and the 10 songs were over and had restarted. I settled in and let the main theme song play one more time, and I checked on 'Nica just as the music started to sing. Her eyes closed, but I heard her sing "ahh-ahh-ahh" and her head shifted a little, and she settled back into sleep.
Conditioned responses are hilarious. Singing is beautiful. The combination is priceless.
