So Much to Do... So Little Time

Travis and I met with the Stake President yesterday for him to be released from  his calling, although they don't have a replacement quite yet, so he will still be acting as High Priest Group Leader. One of the things that our Stake President said is that "You're still young" (I chuckled since Travis will be hitting his 40th birthday in another month!) "and you still have a lot of firsts in your life".

This is true, but I feel that with leaving South Bend, where we have lived for exactly 7 years yesterday, there are a lot of lasts...

I opened the last bottle of dish detergent I'll ever use in this house.
I am making my last visits to my favorite places.
I am seeing some of my friends for (possibly) the last time.

I am so excited that we are moving to upstate New York. We did find a house (I'll post pictures when I know it's really ours...), and it has a huge backyard (plenty of room to camp! and 3.5 bathrooms so there's lots of room for company!!!). I'm excited to figure out where I will pull out and place the things we have now in this house that I'm putting away for the last time. I'm excited to explore a new countryside (and I emphasize country with good reason!).

Still, there's so much to do on my bucket list for South Bend: Silver Beach, Fernwood, Firestation, Potato Creek, Splash Pad, Zoo with butterfly house and train, bike rides at UND campus and along the East Race trail, picnics in our yard or at the park, touching the Bean in Chicago, and so many other things.

But, there's only one week before our long trip to Utah (three weeks!!! Yahoo!) and then I'll be back for about two weeks before we load up a moving van and head to New York. I hope there's enough time for everything and to visit everyone we want to spend time with. One good thing- I know I've made the most of my time here in South Bend, and done so many fun and exciting things. I'm looking forward to exploring my next home.
